The business is searching for an ambitious Junior Software Engineer to maintain and improve on our core application stack involving Scala, MongoDB, RabbitMQ. You will be working in close collaboration with our senior engineers and data scientists as you take on responsibilities related to internal and customer-facing microservices, and learn about the challenges and trade-offs involved in building and maintaining complex SaaS products.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven Business Development Manager with a sector specific focus to join our dynamic team, based in our UK office. As a member of our team, it will be your job to introduce prospective clients to the benefits of our software solutions; converting leads and building effective longstanding customer relationships. Much of your time will be spent on the phone, but you will be expected to attend face-to-face meetings when necessary.

Requirements of the role

The business is searching for an ambitious Data Engineer to develop and maintain our in-house data platform and help deliver best in class data products and models into production. You will be required to build tools to leverage the work of the data team and encouraging best practice for productionising data products within a software as a service development environment.  You will be working to enhance our current in-house tools and capabilities as well as recommending and supporting the consistency of deliverables of the data team members.

You will join a highly skilled team of Data Scientists, software and system engineers, helping contribute to our real-time analytics service.

General Responsibilities

  • Recommending best practice for developing code based data products within a data team and supporting individuals with their coding abilities
  • Maintain, develop and enhance Hello Soda’s in-house data platform for empowering data products as a service
  • Introduce good practice for big data, such as lambda architecture for ETL
  • Daily collaboration with data scientists, analysts, software engineers and infrastructure in a wider technical team
  • Support innovative practice of the data team whilst implementing tools to encourage reproducible experiments and exploratory analysis
  • Drive internal solutions which encourage production quality consistency a variety of data products, from machine learning models to dashboards and visualisations
  • Drive best practices for API contracts, such as schema versioning and validation
  • Documentation of the resources and tools you develop to support the team

Desirable

  • Implementation of data provenance and lineage solutions (such as pachyderm)
  • Kubernetes experience with AWS cloud is a plus
  • Experience with code optimisation or profiling
  • Familiarity with elasticsearch

Skills & Requirements

  • Strong experience in a cloud environment, such as AWS, and familiarity with cluster management
